Kevin Durant, the greatest player since Kobe Bryant

Born in Washington, D.C., in 1988, Kevin Durant was destined for greatness on the basketball court. He first played organized basketball in middle school and quickly rose to prominence as one of the best young players in the area. New York sports buff Ron Phillips notes that Durant led his high-school team to a state championship and was named Mr. Basketball in Maryland. After high school, Durant decided to forego college and declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft. Kevin was selected second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007 and went on to have a stellar rookie season, averaging 20 points per game and winning the Rookie of the Year Award.
