According to Ron Phillips, a New York native and die-hard sports fan, Kevin Durant may be the best NBA player since Kobe Bryant.

Born in Washington, D.C., in 1988, Kevin Durant was destined for greatness on the basketball court. He first played organized basketball in middle school and quickly rose to prominence as one of the best young players in the area. New York sports buff Ron Phillips notes that Durant led his high-school team to a state championship and was named Mr. Basketball in Maryland.

After high school, Durant decided to forego college and declared himself eligible for the NBA Draft. Kevin was selected second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007 and went on to have a stellar rookie season, averaging 20 points per game and winning the Rookie of the Year Award.

In 2008, Durant's second season in the league, he helped lead the SuperSonics to the playoffs. However, Ron Phillips of New York mentions that the Los Angeles Lakers swept the team in the first round before taking the championship that year.

After the SuperSonics were sold and relocated to Oklahoma City, Durant became the face of the franchise. There, he led the Thunder to the playoffs in each of his first four seasons with the team.

After joining Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, Durant won back-to-back NBA championships in 2017 and 2018. He was also crowned Finals MVP in both years, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players of his generation.

Durant has been an extremely prolific scorer, averaging over 27 points per game throughout his career. He is a 10-time All-Star and has been named to the All-NBA First Team eight times. According to Ron Phillips of New York, Kevin Durant remains one of the most decorated players currently in the NBA.
